Genius Hour Progress

Today I would like to discuss the final steps of my genius hour project - the effects of music on my mood. In the past, I have discussed how music can create an impact on film, and I also monitored my emotions with online mood tests while listening to different types of music. The last step of my Genius Hour project was to determine how music affects my driving habits. This was my favourite part to study and I was somewhat surprised with the results.

Eine Kleine Nachtmusik by Mozart, one of my favourites that I often hear on the classical radio station during my commute to and from work. Over the past several weeks I have been taking note and recording videos of my driving speed while listening to different types of music in the car. During those weeks, this Mozart piece played three times... and all three times I unintentionally drove 5-7 kilometers above the speed limit. This is only one small part of my findings, so you'll have to check out my final Ted Talk to see the rest.

After performing a web tool exploration using the Jigsaw method with my classmates, I was able to create a Leaning Object using "Storybird" - a short picture poem about my late night driving. This image represents my Genius Hour project in relation to my speeding while listening to fast / intense music. It was fun and easy to create using the Storybird website!
