Mood Tests

I know I am well overdue for a Genius Hour update, so I plan on making a few posts to share my research before the end of the term. Today I would like to focus on the effects of music on my mood and thought I would try out some online mood testing websites while listening to music.

The first mood test I tried was from BuzzFeed, where I had to select images that looked appealing to me at the time. The website would then translate my selections to determine my mood. Although I'm not entirely convinced about the accuracy of this test, it was surprisingly correct... or perhaps it was a good coincidence! As you can see from my results, I was tired and chose to listen to my favourite version of "I Giorno" by Einaudi before bed.

Throughout the week I tried a few other mood tests while listening to music. One that stood out the most was the Self Test: Mood Monitor, which was quite different than the BuzzFeed image tests. It asked me 18 questions about how I feel about myself and my life. While taking this test, I chose to listen to the saddest music known to man... The Land Before Time theme song. Honestly, it makes me cry every time. Needless to say, my mood test results had determined that I was depressed and should consult a doctor! So it's really funny to see how much music actually does impact my mood.
